পার্বত্য চট্টগ্রামের বিচ্ছিন্নতাবাদী গোষ্ঠী অনেক আগে থেকেই সক্রিয়। কিন্তু এইটা সময় সময় তার রূপ পালটেছে। সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপুর্ণ হচ্ছে, পাহাড়ে বসবাসকারী ক্ষুদ্র নৃগোষ্ঠীর সবাই বিচ্ছিন্নতা চায় না। গুটি কয়েক মানুষ যারা অন্য রাজনৈতিক দলের বা বাহিরের দেশের উদ্দেশ্য বাস্তবায়নের জন্য টাকার জন্য পাহাড়ে অশান্তি তৈরি করে। এসব গ্রুপ অন্যে সময় চাঁদাবাজি, মাদক চোরাচালান এসব কাজের সাথেও জড়িয়ে থাকে।

The separatist groups in the Chittagong Hill Tracts have been active for a long time. But this has changed its form from time to time. The most important thing is that not all the small ethnic groups living in the hills want secession. A few people who create unrest in the hills for money to implement the objectives of other political parties or foreign countries. These groups are also involved in extortion, drug smuggling and other activities at times.
